Meet the myPod Artists from the inaugural myPod:
MICHELE CARLO, a native New Yorker, a Nuyorican and a natural redhead, is a writer/performance artist/actor who works as a soloist, as comic character Carmen Mofongo and as a storyteller with the MOTH, Speakeasy and TalkingStick. She has appeared in Off-Off Broadway productions and independent films too numerous(and sometimes too torturous) to mention, few of which anyone has ever seen. She is also the author of the short story “My Fundillo”, featured in the recently published Chicken Soup For The Latino Soul.
Michele currently produces and performs in IT CAME FROM NEW YORK, a storytelling/music show with an all native New York cast and is completing a novella about growing up as a redheaded Latina in 70s/80’s NYC.
ROBIN CLOUD move to NYC after getting her BS in film from Howard Univeristy, grabbed the mic and hasn’t let go since. She has been seen spewing her inner most thoughts, passions, and comedic observations to the masses at Caroline’s, The Duplex, New York Comedy Club, The Improv, The Peoples Improv Theatre and The Kraine Theatre; at times in the form of characters Jerri Beige, Angela Davison and JD West. In addition, she has studied at the Peoples Improv Theatre, Michael Howard Studios, and the American Comedy Institute.
This year she completed her first one person show Tales from the Big House.
“Black people are so funny. She’s black, right?” James, Brooklyn
“Damn that b*&ch is crazy.” Jethro, South Carolina
NEGIN FARSAD earned her comedy chops as one-half of the comedy duo, Madame Funnypants. With MFP she has performed all over the country for comedy festivals in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Atlanta — not to mention comedy hotspots in New York City, including Caroline’s, the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, and The People’s Improv Theatre. Madame Funnypants has been nominated as Best Comedy Duo in the Emerging Comics of New York Awards and is routinely a Time Out New York “Don’t Miss” Critic’s Pick while Backstage has said of their shows, “it doesn’t get much funnier than this.”
She is a regular guest host for Sirius and Pacifica radio. She has done voiceovers for MTV and assorted commercials not to mention acting roles in short films, and publishing credits in humor magazines (Jest, Communique). She received classical training as an actor at Cornell University and additional comedy training at the Upright Citizens Brigade and the Peoples’ Improv Theatres. She is also a political junkie, intending to lead a dual role as a comedian and politician in the future. Vote Farsad for President in 2016! Go ahead, waste a vote. She dares you.
